School Psychology in Greece

An Updated View

Allina K. Nikolopoulou

Chicago, Illinois, USA

Thomas Oakland

The University of Texas at Austin, USA

The results of a survey of Greek school psychologists are reported and discussed. Their demographic characteristics are described together with their perceptions of the field. School psychology in Greece is at an initial level of development and has yet to establish broad and viable roles in Greek educational and professional structures. However, several recent events and conditions indicate the status of school psychology may improve. The status of Greek school psychology is contrasted with that found in other countries.
