DyslexiaFad and Fashion or Specific Diagnostic Category?Eastleigh, Hants When it becomes fashionable to use a diagnostic term such as 'specific dyslexia' a great number of people, especially parents, and including some teachers, and even perhaps some psychologists, give a sigh of relief that they have at last identified verbally what they know exists in reality. Despite this, however, a considerable amount of uncertainty and even confusion and controversy still remain, among the experts in particular, as to whether the use of the term 'dyslexia' has any useful purpose or indeed whether the condition exists at all.
